and she's a binky girl... a change for us as Jaydan never took to the darn thing.

Now that we're home and settled, it's nice to be working out a new schedule. Going from 1 to 2 has been a big change, no doubt. I think that making sure each kiddo gets the right amount of attention is the toughy... particularly Jaydan since London gets plenty based on her feeding needs.

We're fortunate that London sleeps for at least 1 four hour stretch each night. It's been really great to get a little bit of sleep. Of course, she and I try to nap during Jaydan's nap too. She's a very mild-mannered baby... sleeps a lot (sometimes even needs to be woken for feedings) and doesn't fuss too much. She's truly a blessing to our family - add her to the list I guess as Jaydan still surprises us often with just how special he is.

London Kim Huebner

Baby girl Huebner was not scheduled to arrive until June 16 at 9 am via cesarean. Due to some health concerns, my doctor decided it best to deliver her early. So, on the date of my 37 week appointment, we scheduled her delivery - June 3, 2010.

We arrived at the hospital at 5pm and were finally admitted after about 45 minutes. I got to get all hooked up to monitors and the nifty gadgets that track your baby's heartrate, contractions and my BP. Fun stuff. Family members were in and out of my room while we waited for the OR. There was a balancing game happening as my scheduled time neared - other laboring women potentially would require cesareans too. Fortunately, I was able to rush into surgery before anyone else.

I had an awesome anesthesiologist - she was super nice and very reassuring about all that was happening. I'll admit that the spinal was something that I was a little afraid of. But all went smoothly and then I was numb and ready to meet my baby girl.

Nameless baby Huebner was born at 7:38pm on June 3, 2010. She weighed in at 7 pounds 7 ounces and 19.5" long. I was surprised at her size given the fact that she was nearly 3 weeks early. She came out with a FULL head of black hair - we're going to have fun styling it in the future. Dirk was able to hold her and get to know her first for about 45 minutes while I was stitched up. We were wheeled back to recovery where she was bathed and I finally got to snuggle her for the first time. I think we were all pleased to finally meet her.

I was moved to my mother/baby unit around 10pm and still not allowed food. My great team of nurses snuck some saltines to my room when I was ready to start pain meds. I had a fantastic team of nurses during our stay - the constant movement in and out of the room made sleep difficult though. Dirk and I stayed at the hospital till Saturday night. London was finally named just before I was discharged. Her first name is for the English in both of our mother's heritage and her she shares her middle name with Aunt Karly.

We're so happy to finally have our baby girl!!

We had an eventful weekend with lots of friends and kiddos. The humble Huebner home was full of friends on Saturday night to celebrate Dirk's birth. We had lots of food and fun. The tykes were running around crazy, talking their baby jibberish. There were plenty of laughs and full bellies by the end of the night. Thank you to all of our friends for coming to celebrate with us - we had a FANTASTIC time and really appreciate your company!!

Today is Dirk's actual birthday... we'll be celebrating more with cake and crepes!

Easter

Happy Easter 2010!

We had a really fun time this year - we didn't expect Jaydan to really get the whole egg hunting concept (silly us) so the Easter bunny only hid a dozen around the living room for him. Needless to say, the hunt was over within 10 minutes of showing him the first egg and that there was a treat inside. I think the bunny will be more prepared next year.

Easter did bring candy-a-plenty as well as some Dora and Spiderman goodies...

We got very excited and animated about the festivities...

And we were fully prepared when the outdoor family hunt began - we were truly experienced egg hunters by now...


Of course, a little help from daddy never hurt...

And continually checking out the bounty is fully necessary...

It was a fantastic weekend for us filled with family and fun, though we missed Grandma and Papa Huebner. We'll have some catch-up time with them next weekend.

After all of the hunting, food and candy overload, we all took a much needed siesta. The remainder of the day was much more relaxing and lazy - the way a Sunday afternoon should be. We were able to spend some family time reflecting on the true meaning of Easter and that we should be grateful for much more than candy and Spiderman.

March 2010

So I don't want to say it's been a busy month, but we have kept busy. Grandma and Papa Huebner have been enjoying the sun in Phoenix and we've been stuck here in gray Washington... though we certainly have been blessed with some beautiful days.

We've spent several of them bushwhacking at Grandma and Papa Ob's...

Unfortunately, Jaydan is stuck inside with a cold so we brought up his "new" construction bench from the garage to keep him busy...

and he's turned out to be such a happy worker.

Now that March is coming to a close, we're ready to be well and have some Spring sunshine to play outside. We're hoping April comes with fun and zest!

NESTING

The time has come... I've begun the nesting process. Jaydan's bedroom is becoming a community (kiddo) space so I've moved furniture around to prepare for baby girl's armoire. Today includes putting the feet on the armoire and (eek) getting it upstairs and stocked so that her clothes can get out of the way and into an organized home.

Vacuuming, which has NOT been my favorite chore in the past, has become part of my daily routine. I can't seem to get the floor clean enough and every morning I find that it's too dirty to function for another day. The rest of the house has suddenly appeared very clutter-ridden in my eyes and I'm getting frustrated with no where to move our stuff!

The kiddo sleeping situation is our next task to tackle. We have a couple options - both include baby girl sleeping in our room for the time being. Our first thought was to keep J in his crib (as he's not quite ready to potty train and it keeps him confined when he's "not ready" for sleep) and getting a smaller mini crib for our room. Then when we're ready to move into a larger home, J can get a bed and baby girl can inherit his larger crib. Second thought is to move the full sized crib to our room and get J a toddler bed and just deal with the in-and-out for awhile. Ugh... decisions decisions!

We *heart* San Diego

So I'm about a month delayed... oh well.

For Valentine's Day weekend we ventured to one of our favorite cities: San Diego. Jaydan was in tow for his first visit to SoCal, along with Grandma and Papa OB. We visited the zoo, Sea World, Mission Beach and most of the downtown corridor. We even found time to have dinner with some old friends - so great to see the Vey's again! It was short lived but definitely a great trip!!

Now that we've been home for a month and the sun has made it's appearance in the Seattle area, we're much less antsy to get away. We had a great time and can't wait to head down again someday soon!!

Baby Huebner

Can't believe it's already halfway over! It's crazy how quickly this pregnancy has progressed. In the last week or so baby Huebner has decided to officially take up residence in my mid-section... all of the sudden my belly popped and I'm most comfortable in maternity pants. Oh boy oh boy...

We had our 20 week ultrasound today. It was fun - Grandma and Papa OB and Grandma and Papa Huebner came to find out the big baby news. We were all prepared for another boy in the family but the tech totally took us by surprise and announced that baby Huebner is a GIRL!! We are very excited though I'm not sure that the excitement has totally set in yet. We are on the baby name hunt now and hopefully she'll have an identity by her June arrival.

Happy January!

It's already mid-month... okay, so a little past mid-month. Crazy how time flies. We've had a little bit of an eventful new year thus far. Of course, Dirk's time off flew by and then he was back in the saddle by Monday the 4th. That same day, Jaydan was scheduled for a minor surgery and biopsy on a spot on his finger. This was a tragedy for us - major stress.

We arrived at Children's around 9 that morning and registered and waited... then our name was called. That's obviously what we'd been sitting around waiting for but I got nauseated at this point. The doctor and the anesthesiology team greeted us and helped us to feel a bit more calm about the process and what was going to happen over the next 30 minutes. Dirk went back with the staff and aided them in getting Jaydan put under - not something that I would have tolerated very well. Dirk reappeared in the waiting room after mere minutes and then the worst waiting began. We sat and paced for what seemed forever and then the nurse finally found us. Jaydan was awake and asking - well, screaming really - for mom and dad. Unfortunately only one of us could go back with him in recovery. I was chosen. Poor kiddo was pale white and screaming. It took a lot to try to comfort him. We had a popcicle... we tried to get clothes back on... we took out his IV... and then we FINALLY got to go home. He was fairly hysterical until we got into the car and he got a bottle.

For the rest of the day he was really good and didn't seem to have any trouble. The biopsy came back normal and we should have nothing more to worry about... until his next hospital trip, of course.

Closing in on 2010

Well I've let the blog slip yet another 3 months...

Football season was busy this year. Eastlake made it to the first round of playoffs and then our year was sadly over. It was fun to take Jaydan to see daddy coaching and watch the "big boys" play ball. Our family's beloved Dawgs did better than anticipated as much of the nation noticed. It was a fun season to watch with the new coaching staff and we can't wait for one more year of Locker.

The holiday season caught up to us very quickly this year. Halloween came and went - Jaydan had to miss trick or treating as he was a little under the weather. He was pretty happy just dressing up in his racecar driver outfit and running around Grandma and Grandpa's though.

Thanksgiving was a whirlwind - lots of food and family. Dirk's parents joined up with the extended Obermaier/Brown clan and we had a feast. Lots of fun and of course, Jaydan was the entertainer.

Christmas and Santa were a total blast this year. Jaydan learned about Santa and the toys that he would bring in his reindeer-pulled sleigh. Very exciting. We got a nice picture of Jaydan in Santa's lap looking like a deer in headlights... poor kid was hyperventilating and ready to bust out in big tears. He likes to look at his photo in retrospect though. Santa came to Grandma and Grandpa Obermaier's house and Jaydan was excited to receive a new bike, a huge fish tent and TONS of cars and other toys. It was an overwhelming morning followed by more toys and family at the Huebner's. It's nice to be back to a somewhat normal schedule now, though the chaos of the holidays is always fun.

We are looking forward to a fantastic 2010... baby Huebner #2 will arrive mid-June! We are hoping to move into a larger home sometime in the new year (preferably before the baby arrives or shortly thereafter). It's going to be a good year!!
